How does it work?

Employers

With 2 Donate, Payroll giving can be quickly and easily set up in your business to allow your employees to support their favourite charities. Payroll Giving offers a number of benefits to both employers and employees, and is a great way to support your local community while building your team.

To set up a payroll giving programme, an employer should do the following:

  • Enroll with IRD to submit your EMS(IR348) and EDF(IR345) electronically via ir-File (More info).
  • Promote Payroll Giving to your employers and provide them with the opportunity to donate to their favourite charities
  • Contact 2 Donate to set up a regular, automatic deduction of the requested donation amount from the individual employee's salary or wage
  • Record the tax credits for payroll donations for individual employees on the EMS (sent by 2 Donate to you)

Employees

With 2 Donate Payroll Giving is an easy way to regularly give to your favourite charity. You simply inform your employer of who you would like to give to, decide on the amount and you're done. From your following pay packet the amount you wish to donate will be automatically deducted and forwarded to your chosen charity, and because it's payroll giving the amount you give automatically reduces your taxable income, and therefore decreases your tax!

Charities and Religious Organisations

2 Donate can help your organisation increase its fund raising through payroll giving. How? Payroll giving provides employees a regular way to donate, where the donation is deducted directly from the employer on behalf of the employee, and deposited into your bank account.

2 Donate helps make it easier to set up payroll giving, and as well as increasing fund raising makes it possible to build a relationship with your donors.
